Dr Anand Jhunjhunuwala is an Ophthalmologist by profession since 1999. He graduated (MBBS) from
prestigious Indira Gandhi Government Medical College, Nagpur; completed post graduate degree of
M.S.Ophthalmology from Government Medical College, Nagpur. He also completed his DNB
(Ophthalmology) and fellowship from Shri Shankara Netralaya, Chennai.
Born in October 1973, a second-generation Rotarian, life lessons of “Service above self” originates from
his grandparents Purshottamji and Sitadevi who were freedom fighters. Father Ashokji Jhunjhunuwala
served Rotary for 42 years and was Past President of Rotary Club Khamgaon. Mother Ashaji was a
charter president of Inner Wheel Club Khamgaon. His wife Monica is a social activist and Past President
of Inner Wheel Club Khamgaon. He is blessed with a daughter, Khushi who is currently pursuing her
studies.
While serving the community as an Ophthalmologist, Dr. Anand has also been serving the society at
large and has held various positions with many prestigious bodies and organizations. Some of them
being, Charter secretary of Buldhana Ophthalmic Surgeons Society, Executive member of Vidarbha
Ophthalmological Society, Charter Vice President of Bharat Vikas Parishad, Secretary of IMA Khamgaon,
Medical Director Madhav Netra Pedhi and Member of governing body of Government Polytechnic
Khamgaon.
His Rotary journey begins in January 2003 as a member of Rotary Club of Khamgaon. He served as the
President of Rotary Club Khamgaon in 2010 – 11, post which he held various executive posts. He also
served the district as Assistant Governor, RYLA Chair, Membership Growth Director and District Public
Image Chair.
Dr Anand has been a facilitator at many Rotary and other training events. He has attended district and
national training seminars including Disha at Hyderabad and Kolkata.
Dr. Anand is a major Donor and a benefactor for The Rotary Foundation. Additional contributions were
extended to The Rotary Foundation through his family, as all 9 family members are PHF.
He does not miss a chance to donate blood and may have completed a century by himself. His other
passions are bird watching, wildlife photography and traveling different countries and cultures. In his
spare time, he enjoys playing badminton, watching cricket, reading and listening to music.
